Quan Hongchan, China's newest Olympic diving sensation, has become the center of heated debate in social media forums after a series of negative inquiries from certn sections of the media. Dubbed the Diving Queen for her remarkable performance on the global stage, Quan, only seventeen years old, now boasts an impressive record including five world championships and three Olympic gold medals.

The controversy began when during the Paris Olympics post-event interview, a journalist attempted to teach Quan English by suggesting she didn't know how to say the Paris Olympics is a piece of cake in English. Her response was strghtforward and polite: No need, I don't want to know.

In a separate incident, sports reporter Zhu Xiaolong from the Southern Dly criticized Quan for not being keen on studying English and even referred to her as an idiot. He stated that she lacked the capability to communicate effectively with athletes on the international stage due to her perceived lack of education.

Zhu also pointed out that Quan's actions, such as pouting and shaking her head while excitedly showing off her gold medal to a German athlete were considered inappropriate behaviors. Zhu argued that these behaviors showed crazy expressions.

The negative comments have triggered widespread public backlash on social media platforms like Weibo, where many fans and observers supported Quan agnst the accusations of idiot.

One user sd: Such an unprofessional journalist! How can he describe Quan as an 'idiot'? This is outrageous for a national glory athlete.

Another user stated, She has devoted her youth to diving. It's normal that she hasn't had time to learn English or other things.

Another person added, She has plenty of years ahead to learn post-retirement. She can take it slow.

On August 15th, Southern Dly issued a statement acknowledging the inappropriate remarks about Quan by Zhu Xiaolong during an unauthorized live stream and promised that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken agnst him.

Quan was born in Guangdong province, a small village with just over three thousand inhabitants. Her parents were orange farmers and factory workers whose life was significantly impacted when her mother was injured in a car accident. She started diving as a professional athlete to rse funds for her mother's medical treatment expenses.

Her playful innocence is noticeable across social media platforms like TikTok where she sported funny fish slippers, Olympic rings glasses during interviews, and carried stuffed animal-filled backpacks. Her genuine, strghtforward, and unfiltered answers in media interactions are a standout feature.

During one interview with CCTV, when asked if she felt happy despite winning gold medals at the Olympics, Quan sd that happiness was not her mn concern as she questioned whether it was wrong to win the gold medal over her teammate Chen Yuxi who also trned very hard.

The public has shown support for her honest and candid nature.
